Opera Uncorked
Go deeper with San Diego Opera productions at Opera Uncorked, a fun, casual series of events exploring everything you need to know about the operas in our season. This year, we explore the raw emotion of Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, the sparkling wit of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, and the fiery passion of Bizet’s Carmen, plus a special session led by Joann Clark General Director and CEO David Bennett that will take you behind-the-scenes of a great opera company.
Each Opera Uncorked event offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the music, history, and theatre that make these operas timeless classics.
All Opera Uncorked events are held UC San Diego’s Park & Market in downtown San Diego.

Master classes provide audience members a unique behind-the-scenes look into the artistry and technical mastery that shape powerful operatic performances.
Each session features live musical and interpretive coaching of up-and-coming singers by an operatic virtuoso, such as soprano Hailey Clark, Nedda in our production of Pagliacci; Yves Abel, San Diego Opera’s Principal Conductor; and Bruce Stasyna, San Diego Opera’s Resident Conductor and Chorus Master. These sessions reveal the process that brings each opera role to life.
This season’s series will take place at the Sills Salon inside the Civic Theatre (doors open at 2:45 and the event starts at 3:00 pm):
